
EU DigiTOUR was presented in the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism Fair, where the tourism SMEs and startups, professionals, and students attended. The three day fair is an opportunity to discover new destinations that may represent something original and unusual.
The EU DigiTOUR was presented in 2 sections during the 2nd day of the event:
- Digital Transformation: The Best of Digital Technologies for Tourism
- Digital Tourism Interaction: Mentoring, Workshop, and Mini-hackathon for the tourism sector
On 28th October, the session
Digital Transformation: The Best of Digital Technologies for Tourism kicked off with the welcoming speech of
Giuseppe Laquidara, PhD, Ninety-nine DOS from
X23 - The Innovation Bakery. Then the project coordinator of the EU DigiTOUR
Marika Mazzi Boém, EBA introduced the EU DigiTOUR project, focusing on the topic of digital transformation in the tourism sector and opportunities for SMEs and startups such as the capacity building programme celebrated in September/October 2022, and the upcoming High-Growth Programme, where the tourism startups specialising in deep tech attend the incubation programme and having the opportunity to receive micro-funding. And the final activity of the project- the Hackathon, where the tourism SMEs have the opportunity to receive assistance and micro funding on their digital transformation. Then
Flavio Tagliabue from
Associazione Startup Turismo introduced the current situation of the startups in the tourism sector in Italy. The session was a success with a passionate and engaging audience.
The
second session of the programme- Digital Tourism Interaction: Mentoring, Workshop, and Mini-hackathon for the tourism sector, is more focused on a practical aspect. Kicking off the session with introduction of AI in the tourism sector, the speakers
Enrico Piscopiello and
Andrea Pinto introduced the implementation costs and case studies in the tourism AI and algorithm.
Then the workshop of AR/VR by Maja Pokric from ARVRtech continued the interest and engagement of the audience with AR/VR introduction and try on, giving the participants opportunity to be immersed in the virtual reality world. The last event on the agenda is the mini-hackathon held by Urška Jež from Transformation Lighthouse, providing the audience an insight and opportunity to get engaged in the session by having some first hand experience.
All in all, it was a great honour and pleasure for EU DigiTOUR to be presented in such a great event with a passionate audience!
